About Caitlin
Professional Experience and Clinical Approach
I am a clinical social worker, licensed in Connecticut and New York, with over a decade’s worth of experience supporting children, adults and families managing a wide range of challenges and difficulties, including anxiety, depression, life cycle transitions, trauma and contextual stressors.
Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in New York City as a non-profit social worker, working in community mental health clinics, schools, correctional facilities and psychiatric mobile crisis units. I spent the majority of my career at Association to Benefit Children (ABC), a non-profit organization serving vulnerable children and families in East Harlem. During my time at ABC, I provided individual and family therapy to children (ages 2-21), conducted psychiatric crisis intervention for significant safety concerns (such as self-harm and suicidal ideation), provided school-related advocacy and completed mental health evaluations under the supervision of a board-certified psychiatrist.
In order to deepen my clinical skills, I participated in rigorous training in both pediatric and family systems therapy. Most notably, I completed a four-year advanced clinical externship through the world-renowned Ackerman Institute for the Family. During my time at Ackerman, I received advanced clinical supervision and training on providing nuanced and solutions-oriented therapy to diverse couples and families.
Because therapy is not one-size-fits all, my therapeutic style draws from an eclectic mix of relational and psychodynamic therapies coupled with mindfulness and behavioral techniques. There is no greater privilege as a therapist than to be invited into the internal world of an individual, a couple, or a family, and it is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I hope that my extensive clinical experience and advanced training will serve you (and your family) well in our time together.
